On behalf of Chris Goodman and myself, I would like to thank the City of Melbourne for allowing us to participate as Delegates on the 2016 Trade Mission to China.
We found the whole Trade Mission to be, not only extremely enjoyable, but highly successful for our Business in so many ways.
We greatly appreciate that we could sign our Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation ( MoU ) with the Tianjin University Research Institute of Architectural Design, in the presence of the Mayor of Melbourne Mr Robert Doyle and the Mayor of Tianjin Mr Huang Xingguo.
This MoU allows our two companies to bid for Architectural Commissions in both China and Australia and commence sharing of knowledge. We delivered a Seminar presentation to the Institute, on the topic of Sustainable Design and Green Initiatives in Architectural Design, as the first example of our companies working together. We hope that this continues in both directions in the future on a regular basis. We also hope to commence a staff exchange program very soon.
The City of Melbourne set up Business matching sessions where we were able to meet a range of different Chinese companies relevant to our sector in both Beijing and Tianjin. We found the companies we met were very much aligned with our Business and I believe we made some great contacts for the future. So much so, that we rearranged our travel plans to return to Beijing to meet up with one of the groups. Managing to spend another day with this group enabled us to understand their business model and see the similarities between our two companies. To the extent that later that day, we signed a further MoU to work together and explore ways to expand our both our businesses.
I would very much like to thank the Lord Mayor of Melbourne Mr Robert Doyle, Councillor Louey, Councillor Leppert, CEO of The City of Melbourne Ben Rimmer, Jane Sharwood, Frances Fu and Shane McIlroy for their ongoing support in networking contacts and assistance with the Mission.
I would like to especially thank both Dr Chaoyi Wei and Bonnie Shao of The City of Melbourne Tianjin Office, for their continuing support of our company, many times over the last three years. Their efforts are so greatly appreciated and on this particular Mission, managed to find new businesses for us to meet.
We know that it takes time to build up relationships in China and without the support of the City of Melbourne; we would really struggle, as a medium sized Company, to make this happen.
